DIY Pom Pom Basket

Anthro-Pom-Pom

Guess how much this Pom Pom basket is from Anthropologie? hmm…$50 maybe? TRY $118!

Pom poms have become very popular in the boho design world, and while I love me some poms, I can’t imagine paying $118 for something I can make.

If you have been reading my blog you know I will take DIY over cash any day! I wanted to try out this project smaller scale before doing anything larger like this straw bag from Anthropologie.

Oh my beloved Anthro, how I love your style but hate your prices.

To recreate your own pom pom basket you will need:

  • A basket, duh
  • Yarn
  • Scissors
  • Glue

First you will take the yarn and wrap it around any surface, I used my fingers but you can also use a fork. you will need space in-between the surfaces to tie a knot. After tying a tight not slide the pom off your fingers and cut the loops on each side.

Now I am just going to glue my poms onto my basket using a Gorilla brand super glue.

This project was really easy and I am happy with the outcome. I have just ordered a straw beach bag on Amazon that will receive a pom transformation later next month.

Overall this project cost $7. I bought the basket and yarn at Michaels and used online coupon I found while waiting in line. You may be able to get a larger basket for a good price at Tuesday Morning, At Home, or Home Goods.

I will definitely be doing this to some bigger baskets soon! Happy Pomming!
