Today I am sharing my favorite $2 face mask. I LOVE this face mask because it has three ingredients including water, so really, only two ingredients. The ingredients cost from $10-$25 each up front, but they last SO long, you can get several batches of face masks out of it. When it comes to my face I try to be careful with what I use, I’ve only got one face so I’m going to take care of it! For my face mask you will need:
Bentonite clay has several benefits. It has been proven to expel toxins from your body. The clay itself has nutrients and minerals including calcium, magnesium, silica, sodium, copper, iron, and potassium. When the clay is mixed with water and allowed to dry on your skin, it removes bacteria and toxins living on your skin which in conclusion helps stop breakouts! Sounds good, right?
Now, lavender essential oil is my go to oil because of its versatility. It has great cleansing and relaxing properties to it, which is perfect for a soothing mask. If you have more problem skin you can try using tea tree oil, however, it can cause irritation so I would not recommend it for super sensitive skin. I have been using the Young Living brand of essential oils for a while and I love them, but I have also used oils from Sprouts and Central Market and they work just as well. Essential oils are not regulated by the FDA, so I always try to do a bit of research on the brand before I buy and make sure they sell unaltered oils with no additives or synthetics.
For the mask you will use equal parts water and bentonite clay. I always mix until I find a good constancy. When you mix bentonite clay DO NOT USE METAL, always use a plastic spoon or a silicon whisk. When the clay comes in contact with metal it draws toxins from the metal and will make it less powerful for your skin!
After mixing the clay and water, add a your oil. Your oil use depends on how much mask you are making, but I try to add one-two drops per ounce.
Leave the mask on for about 20 minutes and remove with warm water.
Enjoy fresh skin♥
