My Makeup Brush Set : Review

June 23, 2016

Welcome, welcome, to my first beauty post!

I was really excited when My Makeup Brush Set asked me to do a review for their front facing brush set! I have been eager to try these brushes for a while now. I have to admit, I get obsessed with the actual brushes almost more than the makeup at times, so when My Makeup Brush Set asked me to do a review I was ecstatic!

SOFT CUTE OMG

After 1st Use:
First thought, “That went okay, still have no idea how to use the eye brushes.”

One thing I loved but hated about these brushes is that they are so dense! Despite being dense, these brushes are insanely soft. A sweet, soft puppy tummy feels like sandpaper compared to these brushes.

There are so many bristles packed onto the surface that made foundation and concealer go on smooth and flawless. The largest brush, Oval 10, was ahhmazing for foundation.

I did not like the dense-ness of the brushes when I needed to apply a loose setting powder. Something I like to lightly sweep across my t-zone was suddenly being packed on like I was baking. Hey, if your into baking it would be perfect, but that’s not something I feel like doing everyday before work. (If you don’t know, baking is a makeup technique, I’m not talking about cookies here..yet.)

When It came time to apply my bronzer I was happy with the Oval 8 because it goes on precisely where you want it to, which is great for contouring!

I had a hard time with the eye brushes. They were too dense to sweep a little color over my lids. Once again, I didn’t need to pack on the powder, just a little sweep does the trick. Maybe I need a little more practice on these.

Nitty Gritty
Straight up, these brushes feel different when you first use them and it definitely will take time to get used to them. I like them more each day I use them.

I would have liked to test out the brushes that did not have the material change on the handle. I feel that the material change from black to copper plastic on these brushes made them flimsy.

Nothing that bothered me too much, but if you plan to purchase from the company I would try to find the brushes that don’t have the material transition. For some reason I think those may be a little sturdier.

I was kind of surprised at the cheapness of the handles vs. the amazing feel and quality of the brush heads.

Overall, I liked the big ovals the best, and I still need to practice with the eye brushes!

I don’t think I will use all of these brushes all the time, but I am happy to incorporate a few into my makeup routine! If I was purchasing this set on my own I would have only purchased the Oval 10, 9, 8, and 7, because I just don’t see myself using the other ones too much.
